Who is the customer of the beating of Ahmad obali?

Baku/22.05.23/Turan: Ahmed Obaly, the leader of South Azerbaijan Television (GunAz TV) and a political exile residing in the United States, was subjected to an assault by unidentified individuals at a hotel in Santa Clara, California, on May 17. He sustained multiple injuries, including fractures in his cervical vertebrae, damage to his eyes, and the loss of sensation in his arms and legs. Currently, his condition is classified as moderate.

The attack occurred just one day after Obaly's return to the United States from Azerbaijan. Furthermore, Obaly's son, Deniz Obaly, was also reportedly assaulted, although it is presumed to have taken place in a separate location.

Ahmed Obaly is a co-founder of the newly formed National Council of Statehood of South Azerbaijan and is recognized for his vehement criticism of the theocratic regime. During his recent visit to Azerbaijan, Obaly accused Iranian authorities of human rights violations, specifically targeting the national and cultural rights of Azerbaijanis residing in Iran.

Additionally, Obaly is the founder of GünAz TV, a satellite channel based in Chicago. The channel focuses on covering human rights abuses in Iran, as well as discrimination against Iranian Azerbaijanis and other Turkic peoples within the country.

The question of who ordered the attack on Ahmed Obaly has been raised, and Chingiz Goyturk, a member of the National Council of Statehood of South Azerbaijan, addressed this matter during the "Difficult Question" program. Goyturk stated that Obaly sustained moderate injuries but is no longer in life-threatening condition. As for Obaly's son, he is currently receiving intensive care, but his life is not in immediate danger.

Goyturk explained that due to the secrecy of the investigation, the police have not released information regarding the incident, leaving limited details available. He dismissed the possibility that the attack was motivated by domestic or personal disputes, citing Obaly's resilience and composure. Goyturk instead asserted that the assault was a premeditated and targeted act.

According to Goyturk, Ahmed Obaly had previously received threats from circles associated with the Iranian regime, as well as from pan-Iranian and chauvinistic groups. Following the establishment of the National Council of Statehood of South Azerbaijan, in which Obaly is a key figure, pan-Iranian forces aligned with the Shah Iran Reza Pahlavi's descendants openly issued terrorism threats against them.
