Pashinyan on the Karabakh settlement
Baku/19.03.19/Turan: On March 19, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan touched upon the state of the negotiations on the Karabakh settlement at a press conference in Yerevan.
Speaking about his statement about the need for direct participation of Nagorno-Karabakh in the negotiation process, Pashinyan reminded that this is not a new approach, either for the co-chairs or for the Azerbaijani side.
"Negotiations are to hear each other. Armenia at least has shown the ability to listen and try to understand the opponent. And expect the same. When our partners consider our position too harsh, we can soften, but expect the same from our opponents, otherwise the dialogue will not work," said Pashinyan.
"We do not refuse the dialogue and intend to put arguments on the negotiating table, and are ready to listen to counterarguments," Pashinyan said.
He further acknowledged that he did not quite understand the negotiation process. "Aliyev has been in the process for more than ten years, this is work for the co-chairs. I am the only new person, and naturally everything is interesting to me. Much is unclear.
There are many controversial issues. What did happen in Kazan? In Vienna? In Key West? If everyone says what happened ,there would be no questions. The more participants, the more comments, and there are questions which need to be clarified. As a new participant in the process I must have answers to the question and hope for the assistance of partners," Nikol Pashinyan added. -02D-
