Baku/19.03.22/Turan: An employee of the organizational department of the Azerbaijan Popular Front Party (PFPA) Elkhan Aliyev was administratively arrested for 30 days.
This decision was made on March 19 by the Nasimi District Court, finding Aliyev guilty under Art. 510 (petty hooliganism) and Art. 535.1 (failure to obey the lawful demands of a police representative) of the Code of Administrative Offenses of Azerbaijan. This was reported to Turan in the press service of the PFPA.
The party believes that Aliyev was arrested on trumped-up charges.
“Elkhan Aliyev was detained when he was driving his car. He complied when the police signaled him to stop. Together with police officers, he went to the 20th department of the Nasimi district police department,” the PFPA reported.
PFPA leader Ali Karimli said that Aliyev was arrested because of his active opposition activities.
“Over the past six months, Elkhan Aliyev has been subjected to administrative arrest for the third time. Elkhan Aliyev, of course, did not break any laws. The reason for his frequent arrests is his criticism of the authorities. The authorities do not stop politically motivated arrests even on the Novruz holiday,” Karimli said.
It should be noted that Aliyev was arrested for 20 days in December 2021 for participating in a rally in support of opposition leader Saleh Rustamli.
In October of the same year, he was also arrested for 20 days for a flash mob in defense of political prisoners.—03B06-
