Plan of Activities for 29th Anniversary of Bloody January Approved
Baku / 03/01/19 / Turan: The plan of measures to hold the twenty-ninth anniversary of the January 20 tragedy was approved by an order of the head of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev.
The document envisages holding conferences, meetings and lectures in connection with the events of January 20 in cities and regions, including institutions and organizations of the republic, showing plays, feature films and documentaries on the tragedy.
In addition, in order to attract international attention to the tragic events, orders were given to hold relevant events through embassies, diplomatic missions, diaspora structures and communities of Azerbaijan in foreign countries.
Preparation and publication in the world's leading media are recommended, as well as broadcast on TV channels and posting on the Internet networks of materials about the events of January 20.
A special lesson devoted to the tragedy will be held in all educational institutions of the republic, humanitarian assistance will be provided to the families of those who became martyrs during the events of January 20, the necessary work will be carried out on the territory of the Martyr Alley, and religious ceremonies will be organized in memory of the victims of the tragedy.
It is planned to organize a public visit to the Alley of Martyrs in Baku.
On January 20, at 12:00, the country will honor the memory of the Martyrs with a minute of silence. As a sign of mourning in connection with the twenty-ninth anniversary of the tragedy of January 20, national flags will be lowered in cities, villages and towns of the republic.

A new draft agreement on financing climate programs, unveiled at the 29th session of the UN Conference on Climate Change (COP29), proposes allocating at least $1.3 trillion (€1.23 trillion) annually for climate protection measures and adaptation to the impact of climate change, according to a 34-page document released on Wednesday. On November 13, representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Afghan Taliban held talks in Baku as part of the COP29 conference. According to a report by Turan correspondent, the discussions took place behind closed doors and lasted for over an hour. No statements were made to the press following the meeting. Furthermore, conference security prevented journalists from asking questions to the meeting participants.

Kichikhanim Khalilova, the wife of arrested public activist and first-group disabled person, Famil Khalilov, reported being followed during her time at the COP29 conference on November 13. She had been accredited in the "Green Zone" as a civil rights activist. From the moment she entered the conference area, a young man began to follow her.
