President Aliyev will address the nation
Baku/20.09.23/Turan: Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is set to deliver a pivotal televised address to the nation, a move that comes amidst escalating tensions in the Karabakh region. The AzTV channel has officially announced this address, though the specific date and time of the broadcast are yet to be disclosed.
The timing of President Aliyev's forthcoming address is notably significant, given the recent developments in -Karabakh. On September 19th, Azerbaijan declared the initiation of "local anti-terrorist measures" in the region. The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry underscored its commitment to upholding the provisions of the trilateral agreement reached by the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Russia on November 9, 2020. The primary objectives outlined in the declaration are to quell "large-scale provocations in the Karabakh economic region" and to ensure the "restoration of the constitutional order of the Republic of Azerbaijan." Furthermore, the operation seeks to safeguard the well-being of civilians, civil servants, and Azerbaijani servicemen.

On January 13, the trial in the case of public activist Nijat Ibrahim continued in the Baku Serious Crimes Court under the chairmanship of Judge Aygun Gurbanova. The trial was suspended after Ibrahim, in protest against the illegal arrest, began banging his head against the "aquarium cage", trying to commit suicide. At the beginning of the trial, he stated that he had been illegally detained for 4 months, and because of this, his family in Moldova was in a difficult situation, Turan announced this on its Twitter.
