Protest in front of the Russian Embassy
Baku/03.04.22/Turan: On Friday, a group of Azerbaijani human rights activists held a protest action in front of the Russian Embassy in Baku against the military invasion of Ukraine. At the same time, the police did not allow to approach the embassy building, due to “security measures”. This angered the protesters, and they read out a statement near the embassy.
The statement contains a demand to immediately end the Russian occupation, completely withdraw Russian troops from Ukraine and resolve problems with neighbors at the negotiating table.
After that, the protesters chanted: "End of the occupation!" and gave the statement to the police officers, who promised to forward it to the embassy.
The action was organized by the “Protection Line”, it was attended by: the head of this NGO Rufat Safarov, members of the organization Zaur Akper, Zafar Ahmedov, Alaif Hasanov, public activist Bakhtiyar Hajiyev and others -16D-

Germany's Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, who arrived in Baku today, held a press conference at the COP29 climate conference. When asked about the arrested climate activists and opposition figures in Azerbaijan, she stated that Germany advocates for the release of government critics and that she would raise this issue during her meeting with Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister. She specifically mentioned the name of Professor Gubad Ibadoglu, a doctor from Dresden University.

Activist Nijat Ibrahim, who was detained in Baku pre-trial detention center-1, inflicted numerous wounds on himself on November 20 in protest against unjustified criminal prosecution, his wife Parvin Ibrahim told Turan. According to her, on November 21, her husband called her and informed her that the day before he had inflicted incised wounds on himself with a piece of mirror. In particular, he cut his throat and ears.
