Religious Council of the Caucasus Supported Ilham Aliyev
The Supreme Religious Council of the Caucasian peoples on 22 August, called for support for the candidacy of Ilham Aliyev, who is running for a third presidential term.
The authors "recommended" to the people of Azerbaijan to make the "only right choice" and to support the candidacy of Ilham Aliyev.
"The Caucasus is our common home, we are interested in the progress in the social and cultural life of Azerbaijan and the Caucasus," the statement says.
However, under the legislation of Azerbaijan, religion is separated from the state and religious organizations cannot engage in politics. By signing this appeal, the Head of the Caucasus Muslims is engaged in political propaganda. This appeal also calls into question the commitment of the Supreme Religious Council of Peoples of the Caucasus to the religious freedom. -03D04-
