Results of the joint UN project on protection of women's rights were summed up
Baku/26.08.21/Turan: A media campaign completed its work in Azerbaijan within the framework of the project "Protection of the rights and well-being of women with disabilities and veterans of the Karabakh War" implemented by the Ministry of Labor, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) on the initiative of the country's First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva. It is reported in the UN mission' report.
At the event dedicated to the results of the campaign, the head of the office of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Azerbaijan, Farid Babayev, noted that over the past five months, groups of 50 people with disabilities and media representatives have been formed that underwent various training as a part of the media campaign. "Through their videos and articles created during the campaign, the participants promote equal opportunities and inclusiveness for people with disabilities," he noted.
In turn, Charu Bist, a deputy permanent representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to Azerbaijan, pointed out that the media is an important tool in raising awareness, as well as combating stigma and misinformation.
The purpose of the media campaign led by the Education HUB LLC was to eliminate discrimination and stigma against women with disabilities and war veterans, as well as to create favorable conditions for their integration into society.
Within the framework of the campaign, joint groups were formed out of 50 women with disabilities, war veterans and media representatives from Baku, Salyan and Masally, and online training was organized for these groups in April this year. Subsequently, these groups prepared social videos and articles on creation of favorable environment for people with disabilities and their integration into society. Throughout the campaign, the groups were supported by professional mentors. At the end of the campaign, the works created by the groups were evaluated by the jury.
The best of them were awarded as a prize: the winner of the first place received 900 manats, and the winners of the second and third places were awarded 600 and 300 manats, respectively.
It ought to be emphasized that the project "Protection of the rights and well-being of women with disabilities and veterans of the Karabakh War" covers 2019-2021. The main goal of the project is to support efforts of the Azerbaijani government to protect and implement social security rights of disabled people with a special emphasis on women and veterans of the Karabakh war.—16D-

The health condition of activist Nijat Ibrahim has sharply worsened while he remains in Baku's Detention Center No. 1, his wife Parvin Ibrahim told Turan news agency. According to her, Ibrahim called today to report severe back pain, and he can barely move. Recently, his blood pressure has also risen, and doctors have diagnosed him with hypertension.

On Sunday, November 5, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Kyrgyzstan to participate in the 11th Summit of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States. Upon his arrival at Manas 2 International Airport in Bishkek, Aliyev was greeted with a ceremonial honor guard and welcomed by Kyrgyzstan’s Prime Minister and Chief of Staff, Akylbek Japarov, along with other officials.
