RIA agency website remains blocked in Azerbaijan
Baku/10.06.22/Turan: On June 10 in the morning, pro-government Azerbaijani media reported that RIA Novosti agency had removed a scandalous interview with one of the leaders of the Karabakh separatists Artak Beglaryan. No source of this information was disclosed.
The publication of this news on June 3 caused a scandal and dissatisfaction in Baku, since Beglaryan's statements were an open violation of Azerbaijan's sovereignty.
A day later, access to RIA-Novosti site was blocked in Azerbaijan.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry qualified the publication of such material as an unfriendly act by the Russian state media which undermined bilateral relations and contradicted bilateral agreements.
On the evening of June 10 the site remained blocked. The continued blockage after the removal of the scandalous material can only mean that Baku is not satisfied with it and is waiting for an appropriate explanation on the RIA website.
This expectation is due to the fact that in response to Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry statement, RIA denied Baku's claims as saying it did not understand Azerbaijani authorities' concern over the scandalous material. -0-
