Russia Highly Values Its Relations with Azerbaijan – Lavrov
Moscow highly values the development of its relations with Baku, which are characterized by trust, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated at a press conference on Tuesday. "As for Russian-Azerbaijani relations, I assess them very highly. They are based on trust, and the presidents communicate regularly; there are no topics that are off-limits," he noted.
The minister further clarified that close cooperation includes the North-South Corridor, as well as other transport projects in the Caucasus and surrounding areas. "This also concerns the Caspian Sea's shallowing. We are currently creating a bilateral working group and want to propose expanding it into a five-party format, so that all the Caspian littoral states participate in this work," Lavrov continued.
"We also cooperate on the international stage, of course. There are contacts and concrete steps to strengthen our capabilities in the areas of security, counter-terrorism, and organized crime. There are contacts between our armed forces and intelligence services," he added.
