Polad Bulbuloglu and Andrey Rudenko

Baku /18.07.23 /Turan: On the eve of the meeting in Moscow, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Andrey Rudenko met with Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Russian Federation Polad Bulbuloglu.

"During the conversation, the situation in the South Caucasus and the reconciliation process between Baku and Yerevan were discussed. The Russian side confirmed the need for the complete and immediate unblocking of the Lachin corridor, the resumption of transport communication along it in both directions in line with the trilateral Statement of November 9, 2020, as well as the creation of conditions for the normal life support of Nagorno-Karabakh," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

In view of "incorrect comments of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry" regarding the statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry dated July 15 this year, it was stressed that the Russian Federation has always respected the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan being fully committed to the spirit and letter of the bilateral Declaration on Allied Cooperation."

"At the same time, this does not cancel the task of comprehensively advancing the process of Armenian-Azerbaijani normalization, resolving all issues on the agenda, including ensuring the rights and security of the population of Nagorno-Karabakh, exclusively by peaceful political and diplomatic methods," the press release of the Russian Foreign Ministry continues.

The Russian side confirmed its readiness to organize a trilateral meeting of Foreign Ministers in Moscow in the near future to discuss ways to implement the agreements at the highest level, including the topic of agreeing on a peace treaty, with subsequent access to the summit of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia in Moscow to sign the aforementioned document.

It has to be noted that "the meeting was held in a mutually respectful and constructive atmosphere," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in conclusion.

Yesterday, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Ceyhun Bayramov received the newly appointed Russian Ambassador Mikhail Evdokimov, during which he pointed out an incorrect assessment of the situation in the region in the statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry dated June 15.

Allegations of the Russian Foreign Ministry dated July 15 that a supposedly “tense humanitarian situation has developed in the region due to the activities of the Lachin border checkpoint distort reality", Bayramov said.

He said that the restrictions on the passage through this point are connected with the provocations of the Armenian side. At the same time, it is possible to use the Aghdam-Khankendi road to meet the needs of the Armenian residents of Azerbaijan," Bayramov said.

As for the issue of the “right and security” of Armenian residents, noted in the statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry, this issue will be resolved within the framework of the national legislation of Azerbaijan and for this purpose there is an initiative of dialogue with Armenian residents, Bayramov stressed. -06B-
