Russian Foreign Minister On the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh
Moscow / 12.11.20 / Turan: Moscow is convinced that all parties are interested in the presence of Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh. Turkish peacekeeping missions will not be sent to the conflict zone. The actions of observers from Turkey will be limited to the Russian-Turkish ceasefire control center. This was announced during a briefing on Thursday by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
Russia sees no attempts to frustrate the agreements reached on Karabakh. The opposition in Armenia is trying to speculate on the situation with the achievement of agreements. He called the assessments of Russia's alleged interest in maintaining the frozen conflict unscrupulous.
The Foreign Minister considers it unacceptable to artificially set a time frame for resolving the issue of Karabakh's status. According to him, the status will be determined after the rights of all categories of the population of this region become clear.
The minister said that representatives of the United States and France, as well as the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross, would soon arrive in Moscow to discuss the situation in Karabakh.
He also noted that the Russian Federation would involve UNESCO in the preservation and restoration of cultural monuments in Nagorno-Karabakh.
Lavrov said that there are no plans to expand the composition of the three co-chairmen of the OSCE Minsk Group, which includes Russia, the United States and France. -02D-
