Baku / 02.11.20 / Turan: The issue of introducing peacekeepers to Nagorno-Karabakh should be agreed with all parties to the conflict. This was stated by the Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Andrei Rudenko, "RIA Novosti" agency.

Commenting on the statement by the US National Security Adviser Robert O'Brien regarding the possible appearance of peacekeepers from Scandinavia in the Karabakh conflict zone, Rudenko said, “The Americans should be asked where they got this idea from”. According to him, the Foreign Ministry does not have details on this proposal.

Speaking to members of the Armenian diaspora in Los Angeles last week, O'Brien said that a possible peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh should not include representatives of the Minsk Group co-chairing countries or neighboring countries. Turkey's mediation, according to O'Brien, does not suit either the United States or Armenia.

“We think that both sides will be satisfied with the introduction of peacekeepers from Scandinavia, and we are already negotiating with representatives of the Scandinavian countries on the deployment of their observers in the region,” O'Brien said.

Baku did not comment on this idea, however, I. Aliyev stated that he does not see the need for the participation of third countries in resolving the conflict. In addition, the deployment of peacekeepers will be possible when a political solution to the conflict is reached, namely, the occupied territories of Azerbaijan are liberated. -02D-
