Russian Foreign Ministry's special envoy discussed Armenian-Azerbaijani settlement in Tehran
Russian Foreign Ministry's special representative for normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan Igor Khovayev held talks in Tehran on Sunday with Iran's acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani.
According to Iranian sources, Bagheri claimed the need for peaceful resolution of conflicts in the Caucasus region "without interference of foreigners."
"This requires strategic coordination and permanent consultations between Tehran and Moscow maximizing the use of the 3+3 mechanism to solve the region's problems," IRNA quoted Bagheri as saying.
He said that the Caucasus region is "the sphere of national security and interests of Iran and Russia."
"The Russian representative, for his part, reported his country's efforts to establish peace and stability in the Caucasus region, and Russia's opinion on the two countries' joint strategic position on the processes in the Caucasus region," Mehr news agency reported.
