Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia: We are ready to open the road, but not the corridor
Baku/14.10.21/Turan: Armenia is ready to provide a road, open all existing roads so that Azerbaijan and Turkey can use these roads for movement. “But all these roads will be under the sovereign control of Armenia,” Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan said in an interview with the Iranian Tasnim agency.
“According to the logic of the statements of November 9 and January 11, Armenia will be able to use the territory of Azerbaijan for communication with Asian countries, as well as with Russia. In other words, we will have the opportunity to use the road and rail infrastructure of Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan, in turn, will get an opportunity to use the roads of Armenia for communication with Nakhchivan,” he said.
Unlocking the infrastructure will allow getting from Yerevan to Iran through Nakhchivan by rail and from there to the Persian Gulf - the port of Chabahar. Iran will also be able to communicate with Yerevan, Tbilisi, and will also be able to export goods and services to Europe. This is how they see unblocking in Armenia, Grigoryan said.
At the same time, he ruled out the possibility that the road from Azerbaijan to Nakhchivan would have the same status as the Lachin corridor. -02D-
