Shahla Humbatova urged M. Pompeo and M. Trump not remain indifferent to the crimes of Armenia against civilians
Baku / 23.10.20 / Turan: The well-known lawyer Shahla Humbatova addressed an open letter to the First Lady of the United States Melania Trump and to the US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo.
She called on Washington not to be indifferent to the facts of the murder of the civilian population of Azerbaijan, and especially children, by the Armenian army. As an example, she mentions a resident of Ganja, Teymur Khaligov, who lost five members of his family in one night, including his wife and a young child. Three-year-old Khadija on the same night also lost her entire family - father, mother and one and a half-year-old sister.
“These were civilians of Ganja; they are 100 km from the combat zone. They died in their sleep when a missile strike was launched from the territory of Armenia on the sleeping city,” Humbatova writes.
Because of 2 rocket attacks on Ganja on October 10 and 17, 23 people were beaten and more than 70 were injured.
The same missile strikes were launched against the country's energy center, the city of Mingechevir, which is located even further from the battle zone. Humbatova recalls that during the first Karabakh war, 20 thousand Azerbaijanis were killed and 20% of the country's territory was occupied. Armenia ignored four UN Security Council resolutions and refused to liberate the territories occupied around Karabakh peacefully.
30 years of negotiations only led to the fact that Armenia toughened its demands and declared its readiness to seize new territories. “I urge you not to remain indifferent to this tragedy,” concludes her appeal, Humbatova, who in March this year got the US State Department's Women Courage Award from Melania Trump and Mike Pompeo for her merits in protecting human rights in Azerbaijan. -05D-
