State Security Service reports arrest of ISIS 'accountant' and his brother
Baku/24.02.23/Turan: During the operational and investigative activities of the State Security Service (SSB), Azerbaijani citizen Mirjavad Salahov was detained on suspicion of involvement in the terrorist organization ISIS.
The investigation revealed that Salahov Mirjavad was involved in the ISIS terrorist organization by his brother Salahov Mirjalal from Syria, the State Security Service said in a February 24 report.
The detainee was charged under Articles 214-1 (financing of terrorism) and 283-1.3 (participation in armed conflicts outside the country) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
His brother, Mirjalal Salakhov, was charged under Articles 281-1.1 and 283-1.3 (involvement in armed conflicts outside the country and participation in armed conflicts) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. Both have been arrested.
Mirjavad Salakhov reportedly joined ISIS in the Syrian city of Raqqa and was trained in a special militant camp.
He was later assigned to act as an accountant and distributed monthly money and food to ISIS members involved in the fighting, their families, as well as the families of members of the organisation who had been injured and killed in the fighting.
Investigative measures are ongoing, the SSS said in a statement. 0
