Steinmeier says successful development of trade relations of Germany with Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan plays an important role in the foreign policy concept of Germany, including due to the fact that it contributes to the energy independence of Europe.
This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the country Frank-Walter Steinmeier at a joint press conference in Baku with his Azerbaijani counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov.
"My visit to Azerbaijan aims at the development of bilateral relations," said the German minister.
According to him, trade and economic relations between the two countries are currently at a high level. Last year, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Germany reached three billion dollars.
Steinmeier said that in addition to talks with Mammadyarov he met with the leadership of Azerbaijan and representatives of the local civil society.
Referring to the Karabakh conflict, the German minister said that Berlin is extremely concerned about the tension on the frontline, and it closely monitors the situation and wishes a speedy settlement of the conflict. -06B--
