Baku/27.07.23/Turan: The day before, a telephone conversation took place between the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Iran – Ceyhun Bayramov and Hussein Amir-Abdullahian.

According to the press service of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, the Ministers exchanged views on issues of the bilateral and regional agenda, as well as the situation in the region in the post-conflict period.

Issues arising from the last meeting held between the co-chairs of the Azerbaijani-Iranian State Commission on Economic, Trade and Humanitarian Cooperation were discussed, and the contribution of high-level meetings and interdepartmental contacts in recent months to the development of relations was highly appreciated.

In particular, Amir-Abdullakhyan recalled with satisfaction his meeting with President Ilham Aliyev during his visit to Baku in early July to attend the Ministerial Meeting of the Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement.

During the telephone conversation, the importance of implementing bilateral and regional agreements reached in the field of economy and transport was stated.

Bayramov spoke about the steps taken by Azerbaijan in the post-conflict period. At the same time, he pointed out that "untrue statements regarding the humanitarian situation around the Lachyn road and in the area are nothing but political manipulation." It was stressed that the Armenian side needs to put an end to provocations in the region and respect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan in word and deed.

Touching upon the issues of Islamic solidarity, Bayramov noted that Azerbaijan strongly condemns the recent inappropriate actions against the Holy Quran in some Scandinavian countries. It is necessary to refrain from such actions directed against the Islamic religion, Bayramov emphasized.

At the same time, during the meeting, the importance of resolving some issues of the bilateral agenda between Azerbaijan and Iran that remain open was stressed.-06B-
