Baku/19,06.20/Turan: The Khatai District Court of Baku sentenced Azadlig newspaper employee Tazahan Miralamli to 1 year of restraint of liberty on a complaint from a man named Ata Abdullayev, who calls himself a video blogger.
Miralamli is convicted under the Article 221.1 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code.
The court ordered Mirlamli to wear an electronic bracelet, not to leave his place of residence from 23:00 to 07:00.
Both parties were dissatisfied with the court decision.
Abdullayev insisted on the arrest of the journalist.
Miralamli believes that the verdict limits his professional journalism.
“It turns out that if some event happens at night, then I, as a journalist, will not be able to go there. I will file an appeal. Everything that happened was aimed at restricting my rights and freedoms for political purposes,” Miralamli said.
The subject of the trial was the incident on 26 February this year during a visit of the PFPA activists to the memorial to the victims of the Khojaly genocide.
Abdullayev cursed and insulted the leader of the Popular Front Party Ali Karimli, provoking him to retaliate. All this happened in front of the police, who calmly watched. However, when Abdullayev complained to the police, only Miralamli was involved. -16D-
