The court did not satisfy the complaint of Gubad Ibadoglu's lawyers
Today, the Narimanov District Court of Baku considered a complaint in connection with the closure of the office of opposition politician and economist Gubad Bayramov, which was sealed after his arrest, his brother Galib Bayramov told Turan.
According to him, the complaint filed by Ibadoglu's lawyers was not satisfied. The court motivated this decision by the fact that the investigation is ongoing and "the seized materials may be used in this case." "But there is nothing there that could be of significance for the investigation. The room contains documents related to the Azerbaijan Democracy and Welfare Party (Gubad Ibadoglu is the chairman of the party) and personal data of party members. They have nothing to do with the investigation," Bayramov said.
According to him, in the coming days a complaint will be filed against the closure of the office also on behalf of the Center for Economic Research. Ibadoglu himself was brought to court today. He still has health problems, and back pain has intensified even more. He cannot sleep at night because of the acute pain. During the last two weeks, he twice applied for an invitation to a neurologist and an endocrinologist, but this was not provided. Bayramov noted that Ibadoglu still has high blood sugar levels.
*On July 24, the Narimanov District Court of Baku arrested Gubad Ibadoglu for 3 months and 26 days on charges of making counterfeit money. The Azerbaijani Interior Ministry said that Ibadoglu is associated with supporters of Fethullah Gulen, accused of an attempted coup in 2016 in Turkey. On August 25, he was charged with "production, storage, or distribution of religious extremist materials."
Gubad Ibadoglu denies the accusations, considering them absurd. Many international organizations and officials have called on official Baku to immediately release the politician. The European Parliament called for sanctions against Azerbaijani officials because of the persecution of Ibadoglu.
