The court refused to transfer Ibadoglu to house arrest despite the aggravation of health problems
Baku/02.09.23/Turan: Today, the Narimanov district Court did not satisfy the defense's request to transfer opposition politician and economist Gubad Ibadoglu to house arrest, his brother Galib Bayramov said. He noted that the court refused to transfer Ibadoglu to house arrest despite serious health problems.
Bayramov noted that on September 1, Ibadoglu was brought to court, although it was known that there would be no trial on that day.
"On the way back, my brother became ill, and they had to give him an ultrasound examination and an electrocardiogram at the pre-trial detention center.
Gubad has heart problems so serious that they are not accurately detected not only by an electrocardiogram, but even by an echocardiogram. He needs a CT scan of the chest with a contrast agent," he said.
But even the examinations revealed that Ibadoglu had an aortic dilation of up to 4,1 mm, which means an increased risk of rupture of the main blood vessel.
In addition, hypertrophy and diastolic dysfunction were detected in the left ventricle of the heart.
"Nevertheless, the results of the examinations were not submitted to the court today, they sent a certificate written in general words. Apparently, they want to physically destroy my brother," Bayramov said.
*On July 24, the Narimanov District Court of Baku arrested Gubad Ibadoglu for 3 months and 26 days on charges of making counterfeit money. The Azerbaijani Interior Ministry said that Ibadoglu is associated with supporters of Fethullah Gulen, accused of an attempted coup in 2016 in Turkey. On August 25, he was charged with another charge of "manufacturing, storing or distributing religious extremist materials."
Gubad Ibadoglu denies the accusations, considering them absurd. Many international organizations and officials have called on official Baku to immediately release the politician. ---03B06---
