The establishment of a border checkpoint in Lachin is the sovereign right of Azerbaijan, I. Aliyev /UPDATED/
Baku/27.04.23/Turan: During a conversation with French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna on Thursday, President Ilham Aliyev noted the importance of the visit of the French Foreign Minister to Baku to exchange views on the prospects of bilateral relations and determine the roadmap of cooperation for the next period. The agenda of bilateral relations has always been broad in political, economic, energy, transport, and other sectors.
Touching upon the Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, Aliyev said that after the end of the 44-day war, Armenia was offered to mutually recognize each other's territorial integrity and sign a peace treaty. However, Armenia does not go for it and does not fulfill its obligations under the Trilateral Statement of November 10, 2020.
In particular, Armenia does not want to open a corridor to Nakhchivan, does not withdraw its troops from Karabakh and tries to use the Lachin corridor for the supply of weapons and other military goods to Karabakh. The establishment of a border checkpoint on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border is a sovereign right of Azerbaijan and ensuring the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
In response, Colonna conveyed greetings from President Macron, who "attaches great importance to open and regular contacts with the President of Azerbaijan."
According to her, France stands for peace, economic and social development in Azerbaijan and throughout the South Caucasus region. France attaches great importance to bilateral relations with Azerbaijan and cooperation within the EU. ---16B---
