
The European Court begins communicating on LGBT complaints
Baku /19.03.19 / Turan: The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) has begun communicating on the complaints of 25 LGBT people arrested in Azerbaijan in administrative order in September 2017, reads the message posted on the ECHR website.
The applicants complain of a violation of their rights under the Article 3 (prohibition of torture), 5 (right to liberty and security of person), 6 (right to a fair trial), 8 (privacy) and 14 (prohibition of discrimination) guaranteed by the European Convention on Human Rights and Freedoms.
In September 2017, mass arrests of LGBT people who were subjected to compulsory medical examinations were carried out in Baku. About 60 people were arrested administratively for up to 30 days on charges of hooliganism and not subordinate to the police. They were subsequently released before time. -16D-
