The European Parliament is investigating the work of its mission in Azerbaijan
The presidential candidate of the National Council of Democratic Forces ( NCDF) Jamil Gasanli October 16 held a formal meeting in the European Parliament.
In particular, during the meetings with a number of MEPs he discussed the presidential election on October 9.
Gasanli also held talks with the head of the Committee on Foreign Affairs , the German deputy Elmar Brok (CDU member) and Anna Gomez of the Socialist Group.
Both representatives of the European Parliament id not expressed disagreement with the statement of the observation mission of the European Parliament on the democratic character of the elections.
They expressed surprise and regret about it.
It was stated that the assessments by the PACE and the European Parliament missions diametriacally opposed the OSCE ODIHR assessment.
Brock said that the conclusion of the observation mission of the European Parliament consisting of 7 members will be submitted for discussion and facts presented by them will be investigated.
After meeting with Gasanli the Committee on Foreign Affairs held an extraordinary meeting and the participants expressed disagreement with the assessment made by the European Parliament observation mission.

Arrested economist Fazil Gasimov has reportedly faced pressure after protesting the interruption of a phone call with his family on November 16. "The phone call was cut off, and Fazil demanded that the connection be restored. Then, Jalal Alizadeh, a detention center officer, along with his colleagues, forcibly removed Fazil from the phone room in the medical unit of the facility, tearing his jacket and dragging him across the floor before throwing him into a cell.
