The former head of Agstafa died in prison
Baku/08.09.21/Turan: The former head of executive power of the Agstafa region, Nizameddin Guliyev, died in the Ganja pre-trial detention center from coronavirus. This is attested to by the penitentiary service.
Note that Guliyev was arrested together with other region officials in December 2019.
On August 7 this year, the Ganja Court for Serious Crimes sentenced him to 9 years of imprisonment, and his deputy Ramiz Tatarov – 8.5 years. They were found guilty of "embezzlement on a large scale", "receiving large-scale bribes" and "abuse of official powers"."
The court also decided to confiscate the property obtained by criminal means in favor of the state.
Note that Guliyev was appointed as a head of executive power of the Agstafa region in April 2019. Before that, he headed the Goranboy region for ten years— - 06D-
