The head of the GünAz TV channel was attacked in the USA
Baku/21.05.23/Turan: The head of South Azerbaijan Television (GünAz TV), Ahmed Obali, who is in political emigration to the United States, was physically attacked on May 17 in a hotel in the city of Santa Clara, California. He was hospitalized with multiple injuries.
According to Araz Obali, the head of Günaz.tv's Baku office, the attack on Ahmed Obali was carried out the next day after his return to the US from Azerbaijan.
“Ahmed bey was subjected to a terrorist attack in a hotel in California by an unknown number of people. As a result of the attack, he received serious injuries. In particular, he has fractures of the cervical vertebrae, all fingers of his right hand, his eyes are damaged. Now he does not feel his arms and legs. Currently, his condition is assessed as moderate,” Araz Obali said after a telephone conversation with the victim.
According to Araz Obala, the police are investigating and there are detainees. However, the police do not name the number of detainees and do not disclose their identity.
Ahmed Obala's son Deniz Obala was also attacked elsewhere.
“Ahmed bey does not know under what circumstances his son was attacked. According to other sources, Deniz's condition is serious. He was not even able to talk to his mother,” continued Araz Obali.
Ahmed Obali is one of the strongest critics of the Iranian regime. During his last visit to Azerbaijan, Ahmed Obali accused the Iranian authorities of violating human rights, including the national and cultural rights of Azerbaijanis living in Iran.
