Baku/11.07.23/Turan: The International Committee of the Red Cross is aware of the transportation of undeclared goods through the Lachin corridor and does not support such activities. This is stated in the message of the ICRC Baku office in connection with today's statement by the State Border Service of Azerbaijan on the smuggling of goods from Armenia to the Armenian-populated part of Karabakh by ICRC vehicles.

"There were no such cases in any vehicle belonging to the ICRC. All humanitarian goods are checked by the customs authorities of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Unfortunately, the drivers of 4 rented vehicles, on which the ICRC emblem was temporarily attached, without informing us, tried to make commercial cargo transportation in their cars. These persons were not employees of the ICRC and the service agreements with them were immediately terminated," the press release continues.

The report stresses that the ICRC's activities along the Lachin corridor "are exclusively humanitarian in nature." "Permission should be given to continue this activity, as a result of which more than 600 medical patients were evacuated, including allowing medicines to be delivered to healthcare institutions, as well as food and baby food. Humanitarian activities are always carried out with the consent of the parties and have a positive impact on the lives of thousands of people," reads the conclusion of the message of the Baku Office of the ICRC. ---06B---
