The issues of the implementation of the North-South transport corridor
Baku/31.10.23/Turan: On Tuesday, Deputy Prime Ministers of the governments of the Russian Federation and Azerbaijan Andrei Belousov and Shahin Mustafayev, who is in Russia on a working visit, met in Moscow.
According to the message of the Government of the Russian Federation, the issues of the development of the railway route of the international transport corridor "North–South" were discussed at the meeting.
It should be noted that this corridor (road and railway) will connect Russia, Azerbaijan and Iran. The only missing link in this corridor remains the section of the Rasht-Astara railway on the territory of Iran.
In May 2023, Russia and Iran signed an agreement on the construction of this section. The construction of a 162 km section will close the railway connection throughout the corridor from Ust-Luga and St. Petersburg to the port of Bandar Abbas in the Persian Gulf. It is assumed that the construction of this section will begin in March 2024. ---0---
