The leader of Islamists is imprisoned in solitary confinement
Two weeks ago, the imprisoned leader of the Islamic Party, Movsum Samedov, was put in the punishment cell.
His lawyer, Anar Gasymly, said to Turan, he did not know the reasons for the punishment of Samedov.
On Saturday, the lawyer arrived in jail N11 to meet with Samedov, but under the pretext of the absence of a warrant, he was not allowed to meet with his client.
According to the lawyer, the real reason he was denied the meeting with his client was to avoid the dissemination of information on placing Samedov in the lock-up.
The Penitentiary Service refused to comment on the matter, referring to the right of the jail to make such decisions.
The prisoner has the right to appeal the decision in court.
* Samedov was arrested in January 2011 after he harshly criticized the authorities on the ban on headscarves in schools and in violation of the rights of believers. In October 2011, he was sentenced to 12 years in prison on charges of attempting power seizure, weapon storage, etc.—16B06--
