IRFS demands to release the blogger
The Institute for Reporters Freedom and Safety (IRFS) has expressed concern over the information about the torture of arrested blogger, Ramazanov Rashad (Rashad Hagigat Agaaddin.)
Ramazanov was arrested on May 9 on charges of the illegal possession of drugs. According to his lawyers, he was illegally detained in the Office to Combat Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and was subjected to severe torture.
The IRFS believes that Ramazanov has been arrested for his ideas expressed on social networks; the IRFS calls on the authorities to immediately release the blogger.
IRFS also demands an investigation into the facts of violence against bloggers and punish those responsible, and calls on the Council of Europe, the OSCE and other organizations to influence the official Baku on compliance with its international obligations in the field of human rights.—06D-
