The number of the Turkish contingent in Azerbaijan will be determined by Erdogan (UPDATED)
Baku / 16.11.20 / Turan: The Turkish Parliament is considering the issue of sending Turkish military to Azerbaijan, presented by President Erdogan.
The adoption of such an act was caused by the need to participate in monitoring the observance of the ceasefire regime in the Azerbaijani lands liberated from occupation.
A Joint Center is being established for monitoring purposes. At the suggestion of Azerbaijan, joint participation of Turkey and Russia is planned in the Center.
Turkish media published a draft document, which is being considered by the parliament. The location of the joint Center will be determined by Azerbaijan. Along with the Turkish military, civilian specialists can also participate in it.
The legal basis for sending Turkish military to Azerbaijan is the "Agreement on Strategic Cooperation and Mutual Assistance" signed on August 16, 2010.
In addition, the mission of the Turkish military complies with international law, which officially recognizes the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, UN Security Council resolutions and OSCE principles.
"The center will serve the stability and well-being of the peoples of the region, and also corresponds to our national interests," the document says.
The timing, the number of personnel of the Turkish military will be determined by the President of Turkey. The sending of the Turkish Armed Forces to foreign countries is envisaged for a period of 1 year. — 16D-
