The Presidents of Azerbaijan and Israel discuss the threats posed by Iran

Baku/30.05.23/Turan: The visit of the President of Israel to Azerbaijan will strengthen bilateral relations. There is a very active political dialogue between the two countries, and the opening of the Azerbaijani embassy in Israel will raise these relations to an even higher level,  stated  Head of State Ilham Aliyev in his press statement together with Israeli President Ishaq Herzog. Today, the trade turnover between the two countries is more than $ 1.7 billion. As a result of joint projects, trade will become more balanced and will not depend only on energy. "We see great opportunities for investment projects, the creation of interconnectors and potential cooperation projects in third countries," Aliyev continued.

A lot of work has been done in the field of irrigation and agriculture, and Azerbaijan wants to use Israel's rich experience to increase agricultural productivity. In addition, there is active cooperation in the field of cybersecurity. "The extensive experience of Israeli companies in this field is useful to us." There is a long-term cooperation in the defense industry.

"Azerbaijan has had access to modern Israeli equipment in this area for many years, which helps us modernize our defense capabilities and allows us to protect our statehood, national interests and territorial integrity," Aliyev said. The issues of increasing the mutual tourist flow were also discussed. "Four flights a week is not enough, members of the delegations have been instructed to increase the number of flights and not only during the tourist season, Aliyev said and noted the great role of the Jewish community of Azerbaijan in the development of bilateral relations.

In turn, Ishaq Herzog said that his visit is of great importance for Israel. He invited Ilham Aliyev to pay a state visit to Israel. The roots of the Jewish heritage in this country have made a great contribution to the history of Azerbaijan. "Your country is Muslim, where the majority of the population are Shiites. Nevertheless, the love and connection between our peoples is an example of how we can change the world and move forward," he said.

Azerbaijan has a great influence in the world and in the Middle East region. "We reviewed Iran's regional and global structures, which poses serious threats to the security of the region, and discussed this issue in detail," Herzog said, without revealing details.
