The situation with detained citizens of the Russian Federation of Armenian origin
Baku/07.09.19 / Turan: Azerbaijani law enforcement agencies have not yet commented on reports of the detention of two Russian citizens of Armenian origin in the Goygol region. The Russian embassy told Turan that it was checking this information. For a while Russian embassy did not receive any claim from authorities of Azerbaijan.
At the same time, the names of the detainees are still unknown. According to unofficial information, a married couple from Russia arrived in Ganja, and from there went to the village of Chaykend, where Armenians used to live. There they were detained due to "suspicious" behavior. The names and age of the detainees are not disclosed.
After checking and preventive conversation, the detainees will be released, Turan knew from reliable sources. The reason for the detention was the stay of Armenians in the immediate vicinity of the front line, where a special wartime regime operates. -06D-

On January 15, the Tbilisi Court of Appeals rejected the appeal of Afghan Sadigov, the founder of the Azel TV website, who had protested his extradition to Azerbaijan. Sadigov’s wife, Sevinj Sadigova, stated that this was the final judicial instance in Georgia making a decision on the case, Turan reported. On the other hand, lawyer Mariam Kvelashvili informed Turan that the defense would continue legal steps to prevent the extradition of Afghan Sadigov. According to his wife, Afghan has been on hunger strike for 117 days, and his health is critical.

On January 15, the Yasamal District Court rejected the motion to change the detention measure for Azer Gasymly, the director of the Institute of Political Management, his lawyer, Agyl Laidj, to Turan. "Azer Gasymly stated during the trial that the charges against him were fabricated and related to his socio-political activities," the lawyer said. An appeal will be filed against the court's decision.
