The situation with political prisoners in Azerbaijan will be discussed in Strasbourg
Baku / 08.04.19 / Turan: On April 9, in the framework of the PACE Spring session, a joint meeting of two committees will be held in Strasbourg - Monitoring and Legal Issues and Human Rights.
The topic of discussion will be the issue of political prisoners in Azerbaijan. The human rights activist Rasul Jafarov, who will be one of the rapporteurs at the meeting, told Turan news agency.
Torhildur Barsdottir (Iceland), the Head of the Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights is also the rapporteur on political prisoners.
According to Jafarov, human rights activist Leyla Yunus and leader of the Real party Ilgar Mamedov will also speak at the meeting. There will also be a representative of the official Baku.
"I intend to urge the authorities to demonstrate political will and release the 70 political prisoners remaining in prisons," said Rasul Jafarov. -03B-
