The Supreme Court made recommendations on the consideration of cases during the period of strict quarantine
Baku/11.12.20/Turan: The Supreme Court made recommendations to the courts in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) infection in Azerbaijan.
According to the press service of the Supreme Court, the recommendations say that cases that do not require urgent judicial consideration (the use of compulsory medical measures; on the election, change, cancellation of restrictive measures, prolongation of detention, house arrest, cancellation or change of duties imposed on a person in connection with a measure of house arrest, as well as other appeals in the course of judicial control; appeals in the course of execution of a sentence or other final court decision, if necessary; cases of administrative offenses in certain categories, statements on measures of securing a claim and measures of temporary protection, cases on minor claims is temporarily postponed).
It is also recommended to apply the procedure for oral hearings in cases considered in administrative proceedings.
Use the opportunities for conducting civil proceedings and commercial disputes through the information system "Electronic Court".
Simplified pre-trial proceedings and criminal cases are accepted for trial, criminal cases that can be conducted using video conferences in accordance with article 51-2 of the Criminal Procedure Code, materials of simplified pre-trial proceedings and materials of special complaints will be considered.
Since the reception of citizens has been discontinued, the reception should be carried out only by telephone, mobile phone and the Internet. Individuals and legal entities will send applications to the court, including appeals and cassation complaints, by mail or in electronic form. -0-

Activist Nijat Ibrahim, who was detained in Baku pre-trial detention center-1, inflicted numerous wounds on himself on November 20 in protest against unjustified criminal prosecution, his wife Parvin Ibrahim told Turan. According to her, on November 21, her husband called her and informed her that the day before he had inflicted incised wounds on himself with a piece of mirror. In particular, he cut his throat and ears.
