“We are very grateful to the Russian authorities for their role [in reaching an agreement]. The feeling of relief is caused by the hope that the suffering of the civilian population will end,” he said.
He said that representatives of the United Nations Office for Refugees (UNHCR) will help the parties to implement the terms of the agreement in accordance with their mandate - negotiations are currently underway on this issue.
“Our focus has always been on civilians, providing humanitarian access and saving lives,” the spokesman explained.
According to media reports, within the framework of the agreements reached, internally displaced persons and refugees must return to the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh and adjacent areas under the control of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
“We will continue to discuss with the parties and with the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs how we can help,” Dujarrik said. –16D-
