The U.S. Congress calls for sanctions against Russia and excluding it from the G8
The U.S. House of Representatives adopted a resolution condemning the violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty by Russian troops, called on the White House to introduce sanctions against Russia, and called on the world leaders to exclude a country from the G8, reads the report the Committee on International Relations of the House.
Congressmen recognized fact of Russia’s military intervention on the territory of Ukraine , which is a violation of the commitments given at the signing of the UN Charter and the Budapest Memorandum.
Members of the House of Representatives urged Moscow to withdraw its troops from the territory of Crimea, and limit military presence on the peninsula in accordance with the treaties of 1997 on the status and conditions of the Black Sea Fleet on Ukrainian territory.
In addition, the congressmen called on Russia to abandon intervention in any Ukrainian region and to stop "support of separatist and paramilitary forces in the Crimea." According to them, the OSCE observers should be immediately admitted territory of the Crimea and other regions of Ukraine.
The Chamber appealed to NATO members and the EU to immediately suspend military cooperation with Russia , including restricting the sale of weapons and other military equipment that could be used for aggression in Ukraine.
The Congressmen called on the leaders "of other democratic states" to boycott G8 summit in Sochi, planned for June 2014, and hold G7 summit without Russia in another country. According to the parliamentarians , the country's "Great Seven" should consider excluding Russia from the group , due to its aggressive actions in the international arena, repressive domestic policies, and human rights violations that are "incompatible with democratic standards."
Congressmen also urged the administration of U.S. President Barack Obama to work closely with European allies on the introduction of visa , financial, trade and other sanctions against Russian officials, Russian and Ukrainian oligarchs, and others who are involved in the "intervention and interference in Ukraine." Among the objects of sanctions have been noted state-owned banks and commercial organizations.
The resolution proposed to provide economic aid for the new authorities of Ukraine, and to support their efforts to reduce energy dependence on Russia by diversifying sources of gas, including using supplies from the United States. -02D-

On November 26, the Baku Court of Appeals reviewed the appeal of human rights defender Anar Mammadli, who contested the extension of his detention. During the hearing, the investigator requested that the complaint be rejected, while Ibrahimov's lawyer, Aghil Laidj, pointed out the lack of grounds for keeping Ibrahimov in custody.

Arrested economist Fazil Gasimov has reportedly faced pressure after protesting the interruption of a phone call with his family on November 16. "The phone call was cut off, and Fazil demanded that the connection be restored. Then, Jalal Alizadeh, a detention center officer, along with his colleagues, forcibly removed Fazil from the phone room in the medical unit of the facility, tearing his jacket and dragging him across the floor before throwing him into a cell.
