Baku/14.06.23/Turan: The Special Representative of the European Union for the South Caucasus, Toivo Klaar, expressed concern about the violation of the ceasefire between Azerbaijan and Armenia. "The EU is closely monitoring what is happening in the region. The shooting must stop in all directions. It is important to continue the positive dynamics of successive meetings and achieve results at the negotiating table that will benefit Armenia, Azerbaijan and the entire region,” he said. Official Baku and Yerevan accuse each other of violating the truce.

The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan reports that on June 13, the fire was conducted in two directions. According to the Ministry's statement, at about 19:15, “members of illegal Armenian armed formations on the territory of Azerbaijan, where Russian peacekeepers are temporarily stationed,” fired small arms at positions located in the Shusha region. The report emphasizes that ”adequate response measures have been taken in this direction."

Earlier, the Defense MInistry reported that at 17: 40, units of the Armenian Armed Forces opened fire from large-caliber weapons, including mortars, at the positions of the Azerbaijani army located in the Sadarak district of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. ”Retaliatory measures are being taken by units of our army," the ministry added.

Earlier, on June 13, the Ministry of Defense of Armenia reported that as a result of the shelling of the territory of Armenia by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in the direction of Yeraskh (Arazd-Ed), a civilian car and another object were damaged.

The Armenian Foreign Ministry reports that Azerbaijan demonstrates disregard for the internationally recognized borders of Armenia, human rights and international law by setting fire to a metallurgical plant under construction with the involvement of foreign capital in Yerevan.

The ministry said that the construction of the Barekamutyun metallurgical plant in the village of Yeraskh “greatly concerned” Azerbaijan. Official Baku stated that as a result of uncoordinated activities in this border area, Armenia violates international environmental standards.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, in turn, reacted to the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia. The ministry stresses that it considers unacceptable ”the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia on the purposeful actions of Azerbaijan in relation to the metallurgical plant under construction in Armenia." -16d-
