Trial of accused in preparation of terrorist attack underway
The Baku Serious Crimes Court is holding a trial of Najafov Elshan, accused of preparing a terrorist attack, who was detained by the State Security Service in September 2023.
At the last session, the witness Ibragim Alirzayev provided testimony, which confirmed the accusation.
According to the investigation materials, 38-year-old Najafov, having conspired with another Azerbaijani citizen living abroad, prepared a terrorist act against a foreign delegation during its visit to Azerbaijan.
Najafov was charged under Article 28, 277 (preparation of an attempt on the life of a state or public figure) and other articles of the Criminal Code.
However, it is not clear against whom exactly and when the attack was planned.--
