Trial of the Armenian military continues
Baku/09.06.21/Turan: On June 9, the trial of the Armenian military – Ludvig Mkrtchyan and Alyosha Khosrovyan continues in the Yasamal district Court under the chairmanship of Elbey Allahverdiyev, judge of the Baku Military Court. The military are accused of committing crimes during the First Karabakh War.
The Armenian citizens were involved in tortures and murders of Azerbaijani prisoners in the early 1990s in Karabakh.
Today, testimonies of witnesses and victims, former Azerbaijani prisoners of war and victims of the defendants were heard.
Note that the defendants have pleaded not guilty to the charges. It was Khosrovyan only who admitted that he had crossed the border of Azerbaijan.
However, the victims rejected these claims and reported torture facts to the court. Thus, serviceman Elshan Islamov said that in 1998-2000 he was in the Armenian captivity. While at Shusha and Yerevan, he was interrogated and tortured by one of the defendants whom he immediately recognized.
As for another victim, Javid Huseyn testified that he was captured in Aghdam district in 1994. The defendants tortured him in the Shusha prison beating him with a metal rod.
When Red Cross officials visited the prison, they concealed him to hide signs of torture.
Note that the same testimony was given by Garib Veliyev who was kept in the Shusha prison as well.
* Ludvik Mkrtchyan was detained on October 20, 2020 in the Fizuli district, and Alyosha Khosrovyan on October 3 the same year on the territory of Azerbaijan.
Both are charged under Articles 113 (torture), 115.2 (violation of laws and customs of war), 279.1 (creation of illegal armed groups), 318.2 (illegal crossing of the Azerbaijan border) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. -0-
