Truce for the exchange of the dead is normal practice, human rights activist
Baku / 09.10.20 / Turan: A technical truce for the exchange of bodies of dead soldiers is concluded for a short time - for several hours, for a maximum of a day, said a human rights activist, head of the Humanitarian Research Societies Avaz Hasanov.
According to him, this is a widespread practice; it was also applied during the first Karabakh war, even in the most violent periods.
The conclusion of such a truce cannot entail any serious weakening or strengthening of the positions of one side or another. The opposing sides remain in positions at the time the ceasefire enters into force. After that, the parties, not having weapons with them, collect the bodies of their military. The parties can let the military of the opposing side into the territory they control, or they themselves can collect them and transfer them to the enemy. This entire process is mediated and assisted by the Red Cross.
“Of course, neither side wants the bodies of those killed to remain on its territory. There is a humanitarian aspect - handing over bodies to relatives of those killed for burial,” Hasanov said.
In addition, the conclusion of such a truce is important from the point of view of maintaining the initiative of Russia. — 06B-
