Baku/14.07.18/Turan: Turkish Airlines will make its first flight from Istanbul's new airport to Baku. It will be generally the first international flight from Turkey's new air harbor, said
director general of Turkish Airlines Bilal Akshi. The first flight on domestic routes will be made in Ankara. The first stage of the new airport, built on the Black Sea coast, will be launched on October 31, 2018.
This will be Istanbul's third airport after the air ports of Ataturk and Sabiha Gokcen.
With the commissioning of the first part of the new airport, passenger transportation from Ataturk Airport will be fully transferred to the new one within three days. It is the third airport and will serve 90 million passengers after the implementation of the first phase and transship 2.5 million tons of cargoes. By the end of the project, in 2025, passenger traffic through the new airport is expected to increase to 200 million passengers per year. With the introduction of the third airport in Istanbul, the number of destinations will increase to 350, now there are 305. The construction of the new airport will cost 10 billion Turkish lira, which was financed by Turkish banks. -06D-
