Turkish court released Mubariz Mansimov on probation
Baku/05.03.21/Turan: The owner of the Palmali Group, Mubariz Mansimov, was sentenced by a Turkish court to 5 years of probation, after the verdict he was released in a courtroom in Istanbul. According to Turkish media outlets, the court found him guilty of "knowingly and voluntarily helping FETÖ", released him on probation with a ban on travel outside Turkey, satisfying the request of the Prosecutor's Office of the Turkish Republic.
According to the Turkish authorities, FETÖ is a terrorist network led by preacher Fetullah Gulen, who lives in the United States. Ankara accuses him of organizing an attempted military coup in July 2016 and demands his extradition from Washington.
In his last speech, Mansimov denied these accusations. “I still declare with complete conviction that I have never provided any moral or material support to any terrorist organization. I am asking for an excuse!
I did not give a penny to such inferior beings as FETO. I helped only the state, families of martyrs, students and there is evidence of this,” Mansimov said.
Mansimov was born in 1968 in Baku. After the collapse of the USSR, he was engaged in entrepreneurship in Russia, founded a shipping company. In 1998, he founded the Palmali Group in Turkey and transferred his entire business there.
In the Azerbaijani society, Mansimov is known as a philanthropist who supported cultural figures and students. However, the attitude of the authorities towards him was rather cool.
The pro-government media accused him of supporting political emigrants criticizing the Azerbaijani authorities. -16D-
