Turkish Parliament Condemns Armenia, Expresses Support for Azerbaijan
Baku / 17.07.20 / Turan: Four factions of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (Parliament) in a joint statement strongly condemned the provocations and attacks of the Armenian Armed Forces, which continued from July 12 towards the Tovuz region of Azerbaijan. According to Anadolu agency, the document was signed by the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Parti), People's Republican Party (CHP), National Movement Party (MHP) and Good Party (İYİ Parti).
“Armenia is on the wrong path. These attacks, which are a new example of the well-known aggressive position of Armenia, occupying Nagorno-Karabakh and the neighboring regions of Azerbaijan for years, represent the biggest obstacle to sustainable peace and stability in the South Caucasus,” the statement said.
The authors called on the international community to respond appropriately to the unlawful actions of Armenia. “We reaffirm our support for a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the framework of the internationally recognized borders and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan,” the statement emphasizes. The Turkish parliament emphasized that Armenia should implement the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council and the OSCE and withdraw its forces from the occupied Azerbaijani territories.
“Based on the principle of “two states, one nation,” Turkey will by all means support the efforts of Azerbaijan to restore its territorial integrity,” the statement says. Turkish parliamentarians expressed their condolences to the brotherly and friendly people of Azerbaijan in connection with the death of military personnel and civilians as a result of provocations of the Armenian Armed Forces. -02D-
