Two Armenians sentenced to long terms of imprisonment
Baku/05.03.22/Turan: On March 5, the trial in the case of two Armenians, Ishkhan Sargsyan and Vladimir Rafaelyan, accused of terrorism, ended in the Sabunchi District Court of Baku.
The court sentenced Sargsyan to 19 years in prison, Rafaelyan to 18 years. A week ago, the prosecutor asked to sentence Sargsyan to 20 years, and Rafaelyan to 19 years in prison.
According to the prosecution, these Armenians are military personnel and members of the reconnaissance group. On May 27, 2021, they crossed the state border of Azerbaijan in the Kalbajar region and were detained while mining a road near the village of Yukhari Ayrim.
They were charged under the Articles of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan: 214.2.3 (terrorism, with the use of firearms), 228 (illegal trafficking in weapons), 318 (illegal border crossing) and 282 (sabotage).---16B-
