Two Former Political Prisoners Intend to Run for Head of Musavat

Baku / 09.17.19 / Turan: Two former political prisoners intend to run for Chairman of the Musavat party at the organization"s congress on October 12. They are the former deputy chairman of Musavat Tofig Yagublu and the former head of the Lankaran regional organization of the party, Yadigar Sadigli. Both officially announced plans to run for the office.

Sadigli believes that over the past five years after the party"s congress, the organization"s management was not satisfactory and this led to a decrease in its rating.

"I believe that if I am elected chairman, this will serve a radical change in the atmosphere not only in Musavat, but in the entire democratic camp. This will also contribute to the influx of new forces to the party," said Sadigli.

Another candidate, Yagublu, explains his candidacy on the one hand as a test of his political strength, and on the other as promoting the ideas of Musavatism.

"Our interests are ensuring the interests of the party. Each person has different thinking, strategic and tactical views. Ideal managers do not exist. There are certain mistakes and various approaches. I believe that if elected as the chairman, I will be able to raise the party to higher positions. In order to gain authority for this, I join the political competition for the post of party chairman," said Yagublu.

The head of the Musavat party, Arif Hajili, for his part, stated that the organizing committee for the congress had not yet determined the dates for the nomination of candidates.

He intends to announce his decision to participate, or not to participate in the elections after the decision of the organizing committee.

At the same time, Hajili said that according to the party"s charter he has the right to nominate his candidacy for another term of office of the chairman. -06D--
