UK intelligence: heavy fighting around Chernihiv and Kharkiv
Baku/28.02.22/Turan: The bulk of Russian ground troops are more than 30 km north of Kiev. However, their advance has been halted by Ukrainian forces who are defending the Gostomel airfield which has been Russia's main target since the first day of the war. According to an official tweet from the UK Ministry of Defence's intelligence service.
The report said heavy fighting was underway around Chernihiv and Kharkov; however, both cities were under Ukrainian control.
"Logistical failures and stiff Ukrainian resistance continue to undermine Russia's plans to advance. Despite attempts to hide details of the conflict from the Russian population, the Russian armed forces have been forced to disclose their losses for the first time," the report said.-16D-
