UK ready to support Azerbaijan's transition to renewable energy sources
Baku/09.02.21/Turan: The UK is ready to support Azerbaijan's transition to renewable energy sources and achieve ambitious climate targets, including even greater reductions in carbon emissions by 2030, reads the statement to the press of the British Secretary of State for European Affairs Wendy Morton.
She noted that she discussed these issues at a meeting on February 9 with President Aliyev.
“Our countries have great opportunities to tackle climate change ahead of the UK climate change summit in November this year,” she said.
Morton reaffirmed London's willingness to support Azerbaijan's transition to renewable energy sources and achieve ambitious climate targets, including reducing carbon emissions by 2030.
“It is great to see what contribution the United Kingdom has made to the modern and dynamic Azerbaijan that we see today. I am visiting the magnificent Heydar Aliyev Center, designed by the famous British architect Zaha Hadid, and I am pleased to see that our famous London electric taxis are helping to reduce Baku's carbon emissions,” Morton said in a statement. -0-
