US Ambassador on Parliamentary Elections and Senate Resolution on Genocide
Baku / 13.12.19 / Turan: US Ambassador to Baku Lee Litzenberger welcomed the invitation by Azerbaijan of the OSCE / ODIHR observation mission to the February 9 parliamentary elections.
In an interview with reporters on Friday, the Ambassador expressed the hope that there will be more women, including entrepreneurs, in the new parliament.
Free and democratic elections can lead the country forward. “We expect that the government will create all conditions for monitoring the elections by international and local observers,” the Ambassador said.
He also expressed his attitude to the resolution adopted by the US Senate on the recognition of the "Armenian genocide in 1915" the day before.
Litzenberger noted that the resolution does not reflect the official policy of the White House. He stressed that the United States and Turkey remain allies, including in NATO.
“We are close friends and partners. We will continue our friendship,” said the US Ambassador. -16D-

The United States and the European Union, which tried to position themselves as mediators in the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, have come up with nothing and merely copied Russia's ideas, distorting their essence in order to "hijack" the peace process for themselves. However, their true goal was to take control of the region, to insert themselves into it, and to push out Russia, as well as Iran and Türkiye, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated at a briefing on November 13.
